This class will include the Chinese grappling arts of Chin Na, the system of joint locking, submissions and in close striking both standing and on the ground combined with Shuai Jiao, the ancient art which encompasses sweeps, throws and takedowns. These arts, which made their way to Japan throughout the Tang Dynasty, became the foundations of Jiu-Jitsu and Aikijitsu. This class though suitable to be studied alone, will blend seamlessly with any of the other arts taught here at St. Matthews Martial Arts. The class is taught in an instructional manner, not competitive. It is excellent for men and women alike and offers training suitable for realistic street self defense or as a grappling basis for competitive San Shou and Mixed Martial Arts. The class is taught by Master Carmine Downey.
